Genesis 23 deals with the death of Sarah. After a time of mourning he had the difficult task of finding a place to bury her. He visited the Hittites to negotiate for a burial place. Abraham described himself as a “sojourner and alien” but the Hittites referred to him as a prince. Abraham’s insistence on buying the burial cave is an act of faith. It is a sign to come that his ancestors will own the land.
“Lord, help us to remember that every transaction in our life can be an act of faith. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.”

Just a reminder: This blog is intended to let the particular passage of scripture to speak to you. This is not a political blog though we certainly believe that the Bible speaks to the way we vote. Please keep the comments to the reading plan for the day.
