Exodus 12

Exodus 12 deals with the Passover. God instructs the Israelites to first select an unblemished lamb for slaughter. Secondly, they were to take hyssop and dip it in the blood of the lamb and then brush blood on the lintel and two doorposts. Third, they were to stay indoors all night. Thus, during the Passover the sacrifice of the lamb shown by the blood would suffice for the sacrifice of the first born. Blood represents death, while using hyssop suggests cleansing. So putting the blood on the door posts and lintel would show that house had been cleansed by the blood of the lamb, and death was to Passover.

Obviously, as we go into the Easter season the meanings of the Passover take on significant meanings for Christians. Jesus, the unblemished lamb, who had no sin, sacrificed himself for us, so that we would not have to know death. It was no accident that the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus happened during Passover.

“Lord, thank You for covering our sins though we don’t deserve it. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.”

In ex.12:3 they were told to take the lamb in on the 10th of the month tradiction says that the lamb was to be treated like one of the family so that when you took it to the temple it would be a real sacrifice and that is what we are to do with Christ is to take Him in and treat Him like one of the family and love Him just like you should love one of your family
